Blank Wall Meets Brass Birds

A Flock of Seagulls

Found these brass seagulls on Etsy last week from a lovely vintage vendor,
UpTown Found. They now grace the once-blank wall in front of my bed,
greeting me every morning and wishing me Bon Nuit every night. Wonderful.

The Little Things...

Not much happening during these last lazy days of summer.
So while I await life's next grand adventure, I delight in the
little joys that surround me every day.

Puppy Love

Charlie and Lucie are the sweetest canine couple, providing non-stop love and entertainment. I believe that they are the king and queen of all poochies!

Dried Flower Still Life

These groovy blooms were from my local Melrose Place farmer's market. After lasting 2 weeks, I cut and dried them, saving them for a future still-life arrangement art project I've got formulating in the back of my mind.

Lucite Meets Leather In WeHo

Lucite Meets Leather

Every year I look forward to the West Hollywood Citywide Garage Sale and this year did not disappoint! I found the Lucite side-table hiding under some hats, just waiting for me to spend $30 on it. I've been looking for YEARS for some Lucite pieces, so this was a SCORE! At the end of the next day, I discovered this antique Egyptian camel saddle for only $10!!! It belonged to the owner's grandparents, who brought it back from a trip over 40 years ago. Amazing how it all goes together in my living room, next to the free chair I got from a neighbor many years ago.

Hei Finland!

Finnish Fashion

Et voila! Earlier this year I was interviewed and photographed wearing my own second-hand fashion finds, by the Finnish women's magazine, Kauneus & TerveysSharing some Bohemian wisdom and general grooviness, I discussed such things as how I never go in the sun without my parasol, wear sunscreen everyday (the most natural I can find), love Korean spas, my treasure-hunting prowess (like my $30 Gucci dress from Crossroads Trader), and among my many inspirations, Jane Birkin and Frida Kahlo, two strong and stylish women.

Taking over the world and turning it Bohemian, one country at a time... Miss Absinthe

note - In the article my name is spelled wrong. Sinclaire has an e at the end. Without that tiny little vowel, I become a boy.

Styrofoam Still Life With Wilted Roses

I literally snagged these two styrofoam heads off the van that was donating dozens
of them to Out of the Closet (hat shop went out of business I was told). Currently
living on my kitchen counter, they are inspiring me already, the perfect props for a
Gemini Bohemian!

Smoking Miss Absinthe

Mary Jane

What's intoxicating, inspiring and smokes like a dream with no hangover...?
Miss Absinthe Deluxe at the Farmacy

I got the honor of naming this sweet legal herb after Mr. F won their monthly raffle, which was naming rights to their newest strain, and he generously gave it to me.

A little history: For the most part of my first 30 years, I suffered from debilitating insomnia, and I tried absolutely everything natural and unnatural in order to live some semblance of a "normal" life, and NOTHING worked; most didn't work while having terrible side-effects that were worse than not sleeping. So when Mr. F suggested I give marijuana a try, I said What the hell, why not? And that night was the first good nights sleep I ever had with absolutely no side-effects or hangover. I got my legal marijuana prescription in 2007 and have been asleep by 11 and up by 7 ever since, giving me (pardon the dramatic language) a new lease on life. Needless to say, I'm a huge advocate for the complete legalization of an herb that has so many medicinal purposes that I have witnessed first-hand, in addition to the positive effect is has had on my life.
Getting my own little strain is just icing on this yummy green cupcake!

Seven Dollar Masterpiece

$7 Masterpiece
The colors of this groovy original painting caught my eye at Out of the Closet and for $7 the little masterpiece was made mine. I realized that all five paintings I've collected, over the past few years, were specifically painted for someone, not for sale, yet they all ended up at garage sales or thrift stores. I think these artists need better friends.

My Fabulous Ferragamo Fairy Tale Find

Ferragamo on Fur

Back in 1999, I cut out and saved an article about Ferragamo reissuing a Maryjane flat originally designed for Audrey Hepburn in 1957, as a tribute to the actress for her
70th birthday. Fast-forward 14 years et voila! I find the black suede version at
Crossroads Trader, in brand-new condition, and ONLY $42! Mis-labled as two sizes larger, I felt like Cinderella as I still tried them on AND they fit my feet perfectly.
Cue happy dance a la Funny Face.

I have two binders full of fashion wishes.
Fingers crossed... Miss Absinthe
